Pay: $26.00 – $28.50 per hour
RESUMEN DEL PUESTO: In support of our growing fabrication business, we are seeking a highly motivated Laser Manufacturing Engineer to take on full ownership of our new automated LVD sheet metal cutting cell. This role offers a unique blend of process development, hands-on technical execution, and problem-solving. You won’t simply operate the machine, you will define how it’s programmed, maintained, and integrated into our larger manufacturing workflow.
As the first in this role, you will have a rare opportunity to build the process from the ground up, establish processes and standards, and shape best practices that will drive the successful adoption of this new technology and help transform our sheet metal operations.
Essential Responsibilities:
· Operate and manage our new automated LVD cutting cell to meet production needs.
· Take ownership of the machine, ensuring all preventative maintenance, quality checks, and troubleshooting is performed consistently, correctly, and safely.
· Observe finished cut sheets to identify and resolve issues in nesting that could disrupt production flow or compromise machine reliability, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventative actions.
· Review and approve every nest sent to the laser, identifying and addressing risks prior to final release to production.
· Manage the laser program database, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and continuous improvement of cutting strategies.
· Create a formal written process for programming, nesting, and operation of the cutting cell from the ground up.
· Train and mentor future operators and programmers, building a team to support the processes you have developed.
· Support engineering changes to optimize parts for laser cutting through the newly developed processes.
An ideal candidate will have:
· Strong mechanical aptitude with a strong hands-on approach to problem solving.
· Working knowledge of 3D CAD software, Solidworks preferred but not required.
· Experience with or willingness to learn LVD’s Cadman CAM software.
· Clear communication and documentation skills.
· A self-directed approach through taking ownership, asking questions, and following through.
· A passion to build something new and continuously improve it.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Associate degree in a technical discipline required, Bachelor’s in engineering preferred
· Hands on experience in welding, fabrication, or machining strongly preferred.
