Master Production Scheduler 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Master Production Scheduler is responsible for facilitating communication between production, sales, and distribution stages to promote a healthy and efficient supply chain. The position is also responsible for utilizing, monitoring, and maintaining the ERP scheduling system along with supervising the machine production planning & logistics staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the performance of scheduling team by setting appropriate goals and providing feedback.
  • Collaborating with engineering, production management and procurement to deliver productions on-time to internal and external customers.
  • Develops scheduling methodology that delivers a stable schedule, while maintaining agility to support customer needs.
  • Participates in forecasting meetings with sales, production, and other related departments.
  • Coordinates with factory supervision, highlight gaps in available workforce.
  • Must develop/publish and maintain monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports that display progress against the Production Schedule Plan vs. Actual, On time, Actual Lead Time, and Volumes.
  • Update the Master Schedule with shortages, ECR’s, stoppage, and any pertinent notes/comments that could be used in meetings.
  • Function as liaison among Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, Sales, and Customer Service to ensure timely delivery of products to customers and maintain constant communication with our internal team on changes if they occur.
  • Create what-if schedules to determine service level and on-time delivery probability on prospective orders using production schedule as baseline.
  • Identify constraints and recommend actions to reduce lead times.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement projects to drive on-time delivery, cycle time reduction and cost avoidance.
  • Manage the Sales orders and forecast at plant level to ensure plant goals are achieved including customer on time performance and sales revenue.
  • Maintain parameters and data in the ERP system to reflect changes in manufacturing order parameters, inventory parameters, plant shift calendar, and future schedule of assigned product lines; Ensure the plant equipment and resources are optimized. Disciplined use of system to execute tools, plan materials and capacity. Monitor work order transactions; function as applicable for work orders not closed as required so as to optimize CSI planning tool and plant resources. Analyze effectiveness of activities performed within Materials/Production functions to recommend areas of improvement.
  • Enable production planner to optimize factory planning process for manufactured components and sub-assemblies.
  • Formulate and administer guidelines for finished goods stocking levels, including safety stock, in support of customer contracts and manufacturing efficiency. Maintain inventory levels & dollars within established goals.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS:

Directly supervise the employees in the Planning and Logistics Departments. Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree in business and past proven supervisory/inventory experience or equivalent experience required. Experience in industrial purchasing, inventory, warehousing, and traffic management setting required. Extensive knowledge of Inventory Control, and direct experience in Inventory Control Management necessary. APICS Certification preferred. Extensive knowledge and experience performing capacity planning / master scheduling, in an ERP environment necessary. Knowledge of CSI ERP System is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Strong computer knowledge including ERP Systems knowledge, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
